What is the link between fasting and longevity?

New study in Cell Metabolism sheds light on the link between calorie restriction and lifespan-healthspan. The mystery is not yet elucidated but it seems that mitochondrial networks and plasticity play a crucial role.

We all dream of being able to manipulate fasting in our favour. However, we still don’t know how, for how long and how often we should use this precious tool. So in the meantime, prudence and education is more important than useless, or even worse, dangerous personal experiments.
